A private commission invites you into the world of Saltwater Mythologies. Through water, movement, fabric, and light, Susan J. Roche creates imagery that becomes the foundation of a deeply personal, hand-worked artwork.

The Experience

Each commission begins with a conversation about the feeling you imagine, the setting, and the space where the finished work will live. Susan brings selected fabrics and gently guides you in the water. There is no need to know how to pose—the imagery unfolds through natural movement and shifting light. Afterward, you review the images together and select the composition to develop into your artwork.

Commission Details

Private underwater sessions begin at $3,000, including creative direction, selected fabrics, and the creation of source imagery. Finished artwork is priced separately according to scale, materials, and presentation. Travel, location, and additional production costs are quoted separately when applicable.

The Finished Artwork

The chosen image is developed by hand through layers of encaustic wax, oils, pastels, and pigment. Scale, surface, and presentation are considered together, creating a work with its own texture, luminosity, and presence—a personal connection to water, made tangible.
