Maïra
52 × 44 × 1.5 in. Original
Underwater photography developed through layers of encaustic wax, oils, pigments, and mixed media on wood panel.
Inspired by the meeting of light and sea, Maïra emerges through luminous layers of photography and hand-applied beeswax. The image is refined through successive applications of encaustic medium, creating depth, translucency, and a surface that shifts subtly with changing light.
The wax captures and diffuses illumination in a way that recalls water itself—softening edges, enriching color, and revealing unexpected detail as the viewer moves through the space. Each layer is worked by hand, resulting in a richly textured surface that cannot be replicated.
Both contemporary and timeless, Maïra is conceived as a statement piece, bringing a sense of serenity, movement, and quiet luxury to the interior it inhabits.
