One of the Nereids who guided and protected sailors through the sea.
In Greek mythology, Cymodoce is one of the fifty Nereids, the sea nymph daughters of Nereus and Doris. She is associated with guiding ships and calming the waters, appearing in ancient stories as a graceful protector of those who travel the sea. This artwork is inspired by her quiet strength and the confidence found beneath the surface.
Each Collector Work on Paper begins as an archival pigment print on Canson Infinity Etching Rag and is transformed by hand into an original work through layers of wax, oils, pastels, pigments, and other surface treatments.
No two works are exactly alike. Colors, textures, and finishes evolve throughout the hand-finishing process, creating subtle variations that make every artwork unique. The resulting work possesses a softer, more luminous presence and a depth that cannot be achieved through printing alone.
Each artwork is archivally reverse-mounted using museum conservation methods and presented beneath UV-filtering acrylic in a handcrafted Larson-Juhl Jasper frame.
Exterior dimensions 26.5 by 32.5 inches. Each work is produced to order. Please allow additional time for production and delivery.
